Fully Licenced Western Riding School, Cambridgeshire

As one of the first fully licensed western riding establishment in the country, Sovereign Quarter Horses have always been at the forefront of promoting and teaching western riding.

We offer riding lessons for all abilities, from complete beginners to the more experienced rider on their own highly trained western horses or on your own horse. All lessons are held in the all-weather purpose-built indoor arena.

David, Sarah and Olivia share the teaching between them with all three instructors having learnt from and continue to do so from the world’s top western riders such as Charlene Carter, Craig Johnson and Tim Kimura.

Western Riding Lesson Reviews

A lesson bought for my 50th, I was a little nervous but Olivia made me feel instantly settled. I think her name is Sarah came and spoke to me and a horse called chic was made ready. Then David introduced himself and made me instantly smile and lose my nerves.

The place is amazing, I cannot fault anything at all. An hour later my butt hurt, I used muscles I forgot I had and my face aches through the smiling so hard. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be back as soon as I can.

Not only am I new to western riding, I am also back into riding after 30 + years..and due to medical issues I needed to feel safe, understood, supported and encouraged at the right pace for me.

I have had one lesson with David & one with Sarah, both of them have left me with the biggest smile ever. The warm welcome you get on your first visit is wonderful and the next visit it's like they are welcoming an old friend... Love you guys big time.

Had a lesson with David and it was honestly the best experience! I’ve always wanted to give western riding a go, especially as spending the last 10 years in an English saddle and I’m always so fascinated by how different it is!

David’s teaching was fantastic and was really helpful in explaining how the two styles of riding are different and how to ride in a more relaxed/western way. Even got to see Olivia ride for a bit and it was incredible to see, really friendly yard and Sarah was amazing too! I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Incredibly well cared for and trained horses, a wonderful team of instructors and trainers and easily the most relaxed riding centre I've been to! Set in a beautiful, tidy central location, too, which has been hard to find in the past, especially those specialising in western riding.

Great for all ages and nervous/new riders through to the more experienced. I originally started lessons here to gain confidence back from a fall and prepare for a ranch holiday and ranch work in Arizona, and simply never left!
