Our famous Western Experience days are a fantastic way to get a taste of western riding and are a good introduction to the sport.

The day starts with breakfast in our onsite café in the morning where you will meet the team.

This is then followed by an introduction to western riding with a demonstration from our riders.

Next you will ride for around an hour on one of our fully trained western horses, before having lunch, which is provided in our café (please let us know of any dietary requirements at the time of booking).

There will then be a lesson in lassoing and horseshoe throwing while your lunch settles.

You will then get back on your horses and have another riding session after this for around an hour.

We then finish the day with afternoon tea!

Qualified Instructors on the day

There will be 3 UKCC qualified instructors teaching you, David and Sarah Deptford and Olivia Lochhead.

The riding sessions will cover the basics of western riding and dependant on riding experience, some more advanced western techniques will be covered.

Many of our riders can't get enough of our experience days with some having attended 5 or 6 of them!

I attended the Western Riding Experience with two friends on Saturday 25th November and wow, it just blew my mind!!! A superb day, with a delicious breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and the most amazing riding tuition on beautiful, well trained horses. David, Sarah and Liv were the most attentive hosts and we had a brilliant day!!! Got plenty of time in the saddle, so lots of time to really get to know your horse. The lassoing lesson was really good, even though I was useless (!) .. what a fabulous thing to try though..

We love the Western Experience Days at SQH so much we've done three!! David, Sarah & Liv create a wonderful environment for riders of all abilities to have a great day of riding. Our groups have been a mix of experienced riders, novices and complete beginners. The team look after every rider as an individual and coach you as you go through the day. You learn something new every time and it just never gets old spending a day with great people and class horses

Treated mum and myself to a western experience day. We had the best time. Owners and trainer were super knowledgeable, helpful and inclusive. They catered for awkward diet requests (sorry).Were really supportive and encouraging to help my nervous mum.And used absolute quality horses for the day. Nothing like a riding school experience which we were very grateful for. No "trot to the back of the ride" type language

I did the western experience day and it was fantastic I spent the day smiling ear to ear and giggling like a small child. The horses are lovely and matched to suit you. David, Sarah and Olivia are so kind on their approach to the horses and teaching you to ride western. Food throughout the days was also lovely. I will definitely be back for a lesson!

Individual or Group Bookings

Our Western Experience Days are for bookings of 6 people which can be booked as groups or by individuals in our online shop.

We are currently unable to cater for first time riders on western experience days. If you have never ridden before, please book a Western Riding Lesson.

Riders need to be confident at a walk and trot (English riding or western) to attend a Western Experience Day.

MINIMUM AGE: 16

WEIGHT LIMIT:

Beginner/Novice Riders - 14 stone

Experienced Riders - 15 stone.

As well as our Western Experience Days we also hold Horse Clinics, Summer Camps and Western Shows throughout the year, for riders with their own western trained horses.
