On 9th December 2017 Snippers Heirogance peacefully passed away aged 29. Snipper was imported in from USA by Sarah and David from Pete Bowling in 1993. Snipper has been a great ambassador for the American Quarter Horse Association, he produced over 100 amazing offspring many of whom have competed successfully in the show ring, but he was a gentle and good-natured stallion and passed his temperament on to his progeny.  Many UK members own quarter horses in the Snipper line and have produced further generations of quality quarter horses. One of Snipper’s best attributes was demonstrating the versatility, beauty, superb temperament and athleticism of the American Quarter Horse and introducing many newcomers to western.

Apart from being part of the SQH breeding programme, Snipper was also the family horse and both of David and Sarah’s daughters, Amy and Eleanor used to ride him at home and at demonstrations throughout the country

Snipper has sired 1 European champion and grandsire of 2 European champions. At the age of 24 Snipper became an AQHA Champion making him the oldest horse in the world to achieve this award and is one of only 2 stallions in the UK to obtain this title.

In 2018 Snipper was nominated to enter the AQHA UK hall of fame and the award was presented to David and Sarah at the 2019 breed show presentation evening. Snipper has been perhaps the most successful Quarter Horse stallion standing at stud in the UK.

He is sadly missed by all at SQH, and by QH enthusiasts across the UK.
