Great time at the first show of the year on Sunday 31st March, the sun was out but it was a little chilly by the afternoon.

There was a great turnout for the classes for the first show of the season, with everyone benefiting from feedback from Judge David Deptford.

The Horse & Rider high point went to Jane Winsor and her trusty steed Kevnow Gold Rush

The Youth Highpoint went right down to the wire, with our show secretary having to wait for the results of the last class to declare the winner Lily Eales-Polland and La Amanecida, with Maddi Britton and VB Smartin Snowflake only two points behind.

The Walk/ Jog high point went to Sue Painter and her trusty steed Holster Your Gun

We’re now looking forward to the SQH Summer camp and show starting on the 9th May, don’t forget we’ve got the discounted show entry fee for all camp participants .Oh, and… have we mentioned the sashes we have for the end of day high points.

Mark Rashid and Jim Masterson Clinic coming to Horse Creek Arena in October

Mark Rashid

For the first time in the UK

CONSIDERING THE HORSE: MIND & BODY 15th-17th October 2019

A Clinic with Jim Masterson & Mark Rashid

Jim Masterson, working with the USA Endurance team and WEG 2010
Mark Rashid is a horse trainer known for his ability to understand the horse’s point of view and solve difficult problems with communication rather than force.  He began working with horses at the age of 10 when he met “the old man” who taught him to work with horses, not against them, and to listen to what the horse is trying to say.

Jim Masterson teaches equine bodywork in which changes in the horse’s behaviour and relaxed movements enable the horse to release structural tension that may affect performance and behaviour.

Both are internationally acclaimed clinicians known for working with rather than on or against the horse.  Both have long recognised that a large percentage of training, behavioural and performance problems stem from physical discomfort or restrictions in the horse, and that pushing the horse through physical issues is not the answer.

When Jim & Mark work together, the resulting change in the horse – and the knowledge that comes out of this interaction between Mark, Jim, the horse and the rider – is exponential.  As Jim has noted: “When we work together, the whole ends up being greater than the sum of the parts,  This is true not just for the participants, but for Mark and me as well.  It’s a never-ending learning experience”.

The Combined clinic with Mark and Jim is now fully booked but individual lessons with both horsemen are still available. Private lessons with Mark Rashid are £175 and private lessons with Jim Masterson are £225. Please go to https://www.rashidmastersonuk2019.com/clinic-costs to book into a private lesson.

Spectator tickets are available at £60/day (£65 on the door) or £150 for all three days. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.rashidmastersonuk2019.com/clinic-costs
